CURRENT 'OPEN' SUBMISSIONS & GUIDELINES:

**********

If you are a new author or poet, we suggest you read protocol and guidelines for submitting your work (to most pub co's), publishing termonology, and order a book from our catalog to see what we publish. RedD is a modern indie publisher. If you are seeking 'The Chicago Manual of Style' or old school looks in your book, you might want to state that in your query.

We also do not mind questions from authors about what we are looking for, but if you check out the work on our ezines or in our catalog you will find out we prefer polished writing, but new or established authors are welcome.

"Dis-o-rder" is both thought provoking and empathetic to those who have been directly or indirectly affected by mental illness. As with most anthologies, one relates to some poems and short stories than others. While there were many good pieces, I found the poem, "The Crusade" by MD Marcus, and the short non-fiction work, "Moments", by Erica Goss particularly engaging.

'FLASH' NOVELS SUBMISSIONS OPEN YEAR ROUND

"In 1860 a publishing phenomenon appeared that would provide Americans a wealth of popular fiction in a regular series at a fixed, inexpensive price. Early dime novels, first printed in orange wrapper papers, were patriotic, often nationalistic tales of encounters between Indians and backwoods settlers. By the mid-1890s, bold color covers depicting scenes of bloodshed and courage appealed to a mostly adolescent audience." We are attempting to bring back a version of this, with our own branding of the Dime Novel in modern form.

We are currently seeking 8500-10,000 word max 'Flash Novel' manuscripts for... (submission open ALL YEAR)

Red Dashboard "Desert Dime, Detective Noirs, Fantasy, and Gothic Novel (soft core horror)" Series

All genres are considered, especially in what we publish in our three ezines (Z-composition, Cowboy Poetry Press, Annapurna)

These may include all genres we publish in the ezines, but we are particularly interested in the meta-western and western for our “Desert Dime Novels", but also seeking Detective (Meta-Noirs) Noirs, Fantasy, and Gothic" style flash novel style works. This new series will include flash novels, or stories with numbered chapter breaks (vs. asterisks) that would be suitable for a pocket-size book.  Please query first with a cover letter, a brief synopsis of your work, and a 5-page sample.

Email: editor@reddashboard.com.

Guidelines which are not followed are an automatic email deletion; we do not take poetry, fiction or any submissions in the body of emails (query is fine), word.doc files only please!

Manuscripts

We routinely edit for spelling, grammar, incorrect word usage, and the like. Simple factual errors, if they can be fixed quickly and easily and do not significantly change the style or content of the story, will also be fixed. If your story has significant structural editing required, we will notify you so you can decide what to do. We will not publish any story which does not meet our standards.

By submitting your manuscript to us we will begin a process of above (in red), an assessment, and let you know if the manuscript fits our criteria. It does not mean we own the rights to your work, but it does mean that after the contract is signed and publishing process begins we have temporary rights and they refer back to the author once the book has gone to print, and is published. You own your work out right, and this is normal publishing practice.. If you want to pull out of the submission process we require an email from the author asking us to do so, but once the contract has been signed there is a process stated within the contract, and authors must adhere to those terms. Publisher (Red Dashboard LLC) has the right to pull out of the contract, said publishing process if we feel the manuscript does not adhere to our above criteria.

We recommend any authors, new or professional seek out professional editorial advice before sending us your manuscript.

No one will receive a contract unless Red Dashboard LLC and its owners/editor have decided to accept and make an offer/ contract.
